How To Make Cold Brew
Making Cold Brew is really easy, and hard to screw up. However, I'll show you how I do it and you can adjust this method to suit you better as you keep making Cold Brew.
Step 1: Coffee
Select your coffee. You can use any coffee that you like, but I’m going to use Freddo, which is our dedicated cold brew blend that we sell. I recommend staying in the medium to dark roast range, as too light of coffee can result in a somewhat sour brew. Don't be afraid to try though! You may end up loving it.
Make sure your coffee is ground coarse. Too fine of a grind may clog your filter or muddy up your brew. On the Baratza Encore (a popular home grinder) this setting is around 28-30. Your grinder will likely have a prescription for different brewing methods in the manual.
Step 2: Pour
I use roughly 2.2g of coffee per 1 fl oz of water. For the example in the video, that’s 140g of coffee for 64 fl oz of water. You will need to adjust this for your container, and the ratio is not set in stone. You may prefer something a little stronger or weaker. When you have your coffee and water squared away, pour the coffee into the filter, then pour the water over the grounds. Pouring directly over the grounds helps saturate the coffee with water and kickstarts the brewing process.
Step 3: Wait
Let this sit at room temp for 12-24 hours. When you’re done brewing, discard the grounds.
Step 4: Enjoy
You can either refrigerate this for later, or simply pour it over ice right away. Cold Brew goes great with any syrup or sweetener you prefer, as well as dairy or non-dairy milks. Try heavy cream if you're feeling crazy!
